Rising Tides, Rising Leaders: Spotlighting Those Who Help Us All Stay Afloat!
At CASA’s Youth Awards, we celebrate the people—young and grown—who lead with heart and lift others up. These everyday changemakers make Winthrop a stronger, kinder place to grow by creating safe, joyful, and inclusive spaces. Whether through quiet acts of kindness or bold efforts to bring people together, they remind us that real leadership starts with caring for one another.
Every year, CASA’s Youth Awards shine a spotlight on the young people, adults, and local organizations who go above and beyond to make Winthrop a better place to live, grow, and belong.
While many awards in town focus on athletic, academic, or artistic excellence (and we love cheering those on, too!), CASA’s Youth Awards were created to honor something just as important—but often overlooked: the heart, compassion, and quiet leadership that make communities stronger from the inside out.
We recognize students in grades 6–12 who show up for their neighbors, help create safe and welcoming spaces, bring joy to others, or lead with kindness and integrity. We also celebrate adult allies and local businesses who go the extra mile to support and empower young people.
These awards exist because we believe recognition matters—especially for youth. When young people feel seen and appreciated for doing the right thing, they’re more likely to keep doing it—and inspire others to do the same.
We know from listening to youth in Winthrop that they’re already doing more for their community than their peers nationally, yet they often feel less rewarded or acknowledged. That’s where CASA steps in. The Youth Awards are our way of saying: We see you. We’re proud of you. And we thank you.
Whether you’re new to CASA or you’ve been with us for years, we invite you to join us in this joyful annual celebration of youth leadership, community spirit, and everyday acts of care.
Because being a good teammate, a helpful neighbor, or someone who brings people together is award-worthy—and always will be.
💚 Thank you to all the young people, adults, and partners who go above and beyond for each other every day. This community is stronger because of you.
Do you know a young person who deserves an award for being great? Did you know that youth who feel rewarded for making their community a better place are less likely to participate in risk behaviors?
Winthrop youth in grades 6-12 do more positive things for their community than their peers nationally yet feel significantly less rewarded for the things they do than other youth their age.
